They were standard US domestic units and required substantial modifications to be afforded lead unit status for BHP. This elevated view shows the tropical roof, non-slip paint on the hood, marker lights and modified sand fillers, rear end plough, fire suppression tanks and dual handrail. 8th May 2010.

This image shows the ladder stirrups on the nose have been removed and there has been a trial set of sliding gates fitted to the gate to prevent a fall from heights when the step well plate is installed. This style of handrail didn't last long. 8th February 2011.

BHP Billiton's 4315 'Mijarrpa' serial 20058712-002 from the second order of EMD SD70ACe/LC locomotives built by Electro-Motive in London Ontario in October 2006 leads a loaded train towards the car dumpers at Finucane Island on what used to be the Goldsworthy Mining Ltd mainline. 14th April 2011.

Window protectors have not yet been installed and step well guards will be installed in Australia.

They are the second order to feature the hinged top rail for the front step area. The second unit is an CM40-8M 5659 with less than two years left before it was scrapped. 20th July 2013.
