Double crosses were not that uncommon during this era. 1st January 2005.

The switch for the quarry triangle is just in front of the train. Saturday 8th January 2005.

080124 1684r1017 viewsBing Siding, BHP Billiton GE AC6000 locomotive 6076 'Mt Goldsworthy' serial 51068 leads a loaded train with an SD40R in trail 24th January 2008. 6076 was the first AC6000 to be repainted in the 'earth' livery back in September 2003 and slight differences can be noticed between this units' livery and that applied to 6070 and 6075.

061209 8231r1017 viewsSeven Mile 38 Road, former Robe River AE Goodwin built ALCo M636 unit 9416 serial G6046-16 awaits a new owner. 9416 was originally built for Hamersley Iron as #4045 and was purchased by Robe right before shipping to Hamersley Iron and entered service in February 1973. The ducting on the hood is the air to air intercooler modifications that Robe trialled. Also of note is the unit is fitted with an ALCo C630 fuel tank, swapped when the C630 units were rebuilt into the CM40-8M units. 9th of December 2006.

081225 0533r1009 viewsWalla Siding on Christmas Day 2008, BHP Billiton Electro-Motive built SD70ACe mid train unit 4324 serial 20066862-037, this is the 'class leader' of a batch of ten SD70ACe units built for BNSF but sold to BHP Billiton following construction. Note the difference of this cab shot to the one of lead unit capable 4332.

050110 082816r1009 viewsSeven Mile, just over the salt mine grade crossing, former Robe River Goninan rebuilt CM40-8M locomotives 9417 serial 6266-5/89-83 and 9420 serial 8109-3/91-119 now relegated to non mainline duties as they don't have the ICSS (in-cab signalling) fitted are seen here working a loaded bound for the East Intercourse Island dumper. Monday 10th January 2005. History of these two units 9417 was built by ALCo as C636 serial 6010-1 of November 1968 for Spokane Portland & Seattle as their #340, then to Chesapeake & Ohio as #2100, Burlington Northern #4366, purchased by Robe River and rebuilt into CM40-8M in June 1989. 9420 was built by ALCo as C630 serial 3486-4 of October 1967 for Chesapeake & Ohio as #2103, purchased by Robe River in January 1975, #9420, then rebuilt to CM40-8M in 1991 by Goninan.

The tank waggons behind the locos are 8001 and 8002 both built in 1972 with a 45,000 litre capacity and 8003 built in 1979 with a 100,000 litre capacity, all three were built by Comeng NSW. Monday 10th January 2005.

090814 2097r979 viewsHunter Siding, FMG trial waggons built by CNR QRRS in China and one tonne lighter than the existing fleet. 3001 is the slave waggon with the rotary coupling and stencilled as 21.7 tonnes, 4002 is the control waggon and should be 21.9 tonnes. FMG now has a large fleet of these waggons built by CNR QRRS or Qiqihar Railway Rolling Stock Co. Ltd of China Northern, with the tare weights now at 22.6 tonnes. 14th August 2009.
