213-06401 viewsWeipa, Lorim Point Workshops, Comalco shunt loco R 1003 sits unused and almost out of service in October 1995. EMD model NW2 built 1946 serial 4114 in service with Comalco in 1976 and purchased from Canadian National in 1975. Subsequently it was later scrapped in 2000.

Note the difference in the tare weights, 2396 with the fixed coupler is the 'control' waggon, while 1187 is the 'slave' waggon with the rotary coupler. The yellow circle also denotes the rotary coupler end. 16th January 2008.

These waggons are the latest additions to the fleet with 20 on order in total. They are made from the same 5Cr12Ti steel that the Goninan Golynx waggons are made. 9100 has been set up for use as a 'test' waggon with load sensors located all over it. 25th December 2004.

A 300 tonne crane on the left and an even bigger 500 tonne crane combine to lift the 200 tonne mass of the 4300 hp SD70ACe locomotive, 14th June 2008.

040802 090026r385 viewsRedbank, Nelson Point yard entrance BHP GE AC6000 6077 'Nimingarra' serial 51069 and Goninan CM40-8M rebuild 5654 'Kashima' serial 8412-11/93-145 arrive in Nelson Point with a loaded Yandi, of note was the mid-train engines EMD SD40R units 3090-3089 and CM40-8M 5636 had engineers on-board to carry out tests on the SD40R locomotives 2nd August 2004.

060416 3478r383 viewsNelson Point Locomotive Service Shop, BHP Billiton's class leader of the Electro-Motive built SD70ACe/LC locomotive 4300 serial 20038540-001 which was actually purchased as a spare parts source, sits in the shed during commissioning, of note is that it has no windscreen protectors fitted. 16th April 2006. This unit was subsequently stripped and then the frame and cab eventually scrapped in January 2016 without ever hauling a train.
