Purchased in 1986 and rebuilt by Comeng WA into C636R before delivery to Robe in November 1986. This loco also went on to become DR 8401 for construction of FMG's railway in 2007-08. Seen here in the South Yard dragging a loaded rake down to the car dumper. 22nd October 2000.

They are the second order to feature the hinged top rail for the front step area. The second unit is an CM40-8M 5659 with less than two years left before it was scrapped. 20th July 2013.

213-20998 viewsWeipa, Lorim Point fuel point, Comalco R 1004 loco Clyde Engineering built EMD model JT42C built 1990 serial 90-1277, weight 132 tonne, engine 12-710G3A, generator AR11-WBA-CA5, traction motors D87ETR, rated power 2460 kW/3300 hp. The body is similar to a V/Line N class while the components are the same as the Australian National AN class. Originally built for Goldsworthy Mining as GML 10 for use at their Western Australian iron ore railway and locally known as Cinderella. Purchased by Comalco in 1994 following the takeover of Goldsworthy by BHP.

141027 5912998 viewsWedgefield, Sell and Parker's metal recycling yard, view of Hitachi ZAXIS 350 LCH excavator fitted with the huge hydraulically operated shears that are making a meal of former EMD SD40 and GE AC6000 locomotives. Besides it lays the remains of an EMD SD40R unit which has been reduced to a few frame part with the EMD 645 engine laying over, sister units 3095 wait for a similar fate.
