256-223 viewsMaitland Siding, Robe River CM40-8M unit 9417 (2nd) leading an empty train into the passing track. 9417 was the first CM40-8M rebuild carried out by Goninan in 1989, it was originally an ALCo built C636 unit for Spokane Portland & Seattle numbered 340 with serial number 6010-1, it went onto to be Burligton Northern 4366 and then purchased for Robe River in late 1980 as a parts source. When finally rebuilt by Goninan in June 1989 it had new serial number of 6266-5 / 89-83 and replaced the original 9417 which was scrapped in 1979. May 2002.

256-353 viewsAt the 89.6 km grade crossing the loaded train behind the quad CM40-8M working of 9414, 9420, 9410 and 9425 rolls across the crossing and heads down the 1.26 percent grade. 9410 (2nd) was built by Comeng NSW as an ALCo M636 model in November 1975 with serial number C6098-05 for Mount Neman Mining with road number 5500, it was sent to Goninan but not rebuilt. Eventually sold to Robe and rebuilt by Goninan WA to an CM40-8M model in March 1996 with serial number 2160-03/96-202. May 2002.

257-073 viewsFlash Butt yard BHP's stored Goninan WA ALCo C636 to GE C36-7M rebuild unit 5506 awaits its fate. Rebuilt in 1987 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from a 1968 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6012-4 and road number 5455 and assigned new serial number 4839-01 / 87-071. It was delivered in Mount Newman Mining orange and was named Mt Goldsworthy. 5506 was the first unit in the world where an ALCo C636 had been rebuilt into an GE C36-7. Late 2001.

Sold to West Coast Railway mid 1990s, converted to crew car after 2004.
