Approximate location. 24th April 2004.

251-1141 viewsNelson Point, BHP's recently retired Goninan WA ALCo C636 to GE C36-7M rebuild unit 5511 awaits its fate. Rebuilt in 1987 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from 1969 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6035-4 and road number 5463 and assigned new serial number 4839-08 / 87-076. It was delivered in Mt Newman Mining orange and was named Port Hedland. 551 holds the dubious honour of being the first unit withdrawn following an engine failure in 1998. 22nd April 2000.
