141027 5912757 viewsWedgefield, Sell and Parker's metal recycling yard, view of Hitachi ZAXIS 350 LCH excavator fitted with the huge hydraulically operated shears that are making a meal of former EMD SD40 and GE AC6000 locomotives. Besides it lays the remains of an EMD SD40R unit which has been reduced to a few frame part with the EMD 645 engine laying over, sister units 3095 wait for a similar fate.

080124 1684r749 viewsBing Siding, BHP Billiton GE AC6000 locomotive 6076 'Mt Goldsworthy' serial 51068 leads a loaded train with an SD40R in trail 24th January 2008. 6076 was the first AC6000 to be repainted in the 'earth' livery back in September 2003 and slight differences can be noticed between this units' livery and that applied to 6070 and 6075.

061209 8227r735 viewsSeven Mile 38 Road, retired Robe River Comeng WA ALCo rebuild model C636R unit 9427 serial WA143-2 sits stripped of engine, fuel tank and pilots ready for road haulage to Perth for rebuilding and use on FMG rail construction trains in May-June 2007. This unit was originally built by ALCo as C636 serial 3499-2 of January 1968 for Pennsylvania Railroad as #6331, and was purchased off Conrail as #6781 in 1986 and was rebuilt by Comeng WA prior to delivery in January 1987. 9th December 2006.

180701 9484r733 viewsRoy Hill track formation near the 63 km. Sleepers are moulded IT for Italian Thai DPC Ltd of Thailand who manufactured them, 14 for year of manufacture and then a serial number. The rail is moulded 136 10 VT NIPPON 2014 4 which translates to 136 Ib/yard (or 68 kg/m), 10 for Low Alloy, VT for processes of hydrogen elimination as Vacuum Treated, NIPPON is the manufacturer Nippon Steel, Japan, 2014 year rolled and 4 is month rolled.

050110 082816r729 viewsSeven Mile, just over the salt mine grade crossing, former Robe River Goninan rebuilt CM40-8M locomotives 9417 serial 6266-5/89-83 and 9420 serial 8109-3/91-119 now relegated to non mainline duties as they don't have the ICSS (in-cab signalling) fitted are seen here working a loaded bound for the East Intercourse Island dumper. Monday 10th January 2005. History of these two units 9417 was built by ALCo as C636 serial 6010-1 of November 1968 for Spokane Portland & Seattle as their #340, then to Chesapeake & Ohio as #2100, Burlington Northern #4366, purchased by Robe River and rebuilt into CM40-8M in June 1989. 9420 was built by ALCo as C630 serial 3486-4 of October 1967 for Chesapeake & Ohio as #2103, purchased by Robe River in January 1975, #9420, then rebuilt to CM40-8M in 1991 by Goninan.

Tuesday 11th January 2005.

On the afternoon of Friday the 19th of November 2004 a photo was managed with no less than fourteen locos in the shot, seven at the workshops, and seven on trains at the car dumper roads. Locos in the frame are: 3085, 3080, 3092, 5639, 5636, 5667, 6074 at the workshops and, 6073, 3082, 3079, 5640, 5669, 3078, and 5630 on the car dumper roads. Models are EMD SD40R and SD40-2, GE AC6000 and Goninan GE CM40-8M.
