051102 6629190 viewsThevenard, left hand side of Clyde Engineering EMD JL22C model unit and class leader 1601, originally NJ 1 'Ben Chifley' serial 71-728, built in 1971 at Clyde's Granville NSW workshops, started out on the Central Australia Railway for the Commonwealth Railways before being transferred to the Eyre Peninsula system in 1981, repainted and renumbered to 1601 in November 2004 coupled to NJ 6 in Australian National green and yellow.

Recoded to VCCX type in 1987, then in 1994 to RCCX type.

It was donated from the Public Works Department at Point Samson in 1976. A picture of it in service can be found here at Weston Langford site. 14th September 2020.
