BRS 221was originally built by Victorian Railways Newport Workshops in November 1940 as an AS type first class sitting car for the Spirit of Progress as AS 6, in April 1983 converted to a combined sitting accommodation and a mini refreshment service as BRS type BRS 1, then in September 1985 renumbered to BRS 221. Sold to West Coast Railway mid 1990s, converted to crew car after 2004. RZEY 3, built by South Australian Railways Islington Workshops in 1956 as Tolkini for The Overland, renamed to Malkari in 1957 then coded JTA 3 in 1987, converted to crew coach in 2007 by Bluebird Rail Operations.

Painted in V/Line livery in 1992. Ended up with West Coast Railway in the late 1990s, painted in WCR livery Sept 2001, prior to Pacific National ownership and conversion to a crew car.
