213-17669 viewsWeipa, Lorim Point workshops, Comalco R 1001 loco Clyde Engineering built EMD model GT26C serial 72-752 sits at the fuel point, items of note are these units were setup to have the long hood leading, the second 'tropical roof' and the five chime horn cut into the nose. Also noticeable, the units don't have dynamic brakes fitted so there is no brake 'blister' in the middle of the hood like you see on the GT26C models of WAGR L or VR C classes.

Even a 20 km remote railway requires a grinder! September 1995.

The body is similar to a V/Line N class while the components are the same as the Australian National AN class. Originally built for Goldsworthy Mining as GML 10 for use at their Western Australian iron ore railway and locally known as Cinderella. Purchased by Comalco in 1994 following the takeover of Goldsworthy by BHP.

R 1003 is an Electro Motive built NW2 model with serial number 4114 and frame number of E761-8 was built in November 1946 at La Grange originally for Canadian National with road number 7943. Sold to Comalco in December 1975 and entered service in 1976. This unit was subsequently scrapped in 2000.
