256-22145 viewsMaitland Siding, Robe River CM40-8M unit 9417 (2nd) leading an empty train into the passing track. 9417 was the first CM40-8M rebuild carried out by Goninan in 1989, it was originally an ALCo built C636 unit for Spokane Portland & Seattle numbered 340 with serial number 6010-1, it went onto to be Burlington Northern 4366 and then purchased for Robe River in late 1980 as a parts source. When finally rebuilt by Goninan in June 1989 it had new serial number of 6266-5 / 89-83 and replaced the original 9417 which was scrapped in 1979. May 2002.

Rebuilt in 1988 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from a 1970 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6012-2 and road number 5453 and assigned new serial number 4839-02 / 88-078. It was delivered in Mount Newman Mining orange and was named Kalgan. Late 2001.

This was a special for the 25 years of the Alstom / BHP service agreement. Friday 12th of April 2002.

Only sixty-six entered service. A feature is the fully round 'corners' and side joins, the waggon behind it is a Comeng WA with square features. 20th of June 2011.

Of the seven waggon, the first four had a flat floor and final three had a drop belly floor. The radial wheel sets were later replaced with conventional bogies. 12th of July 2003.
