256-0413 viewsMaitland Siding on the Cape Lambert to Deepdale railway has a late afternoon empty train with the quad CM40-8M working of 9425, 9410, 9420 and 9414 in the siding waiting for a cross with an opposing loaded train. At the time of this image Siding 3 or Murray Camp was unable to cross ore trains so Siding One - Harding or Siding Two - Maitland were used. May 2002.

257-0013 viewsFlash Butt yard BHP's stored Goninan WA ALCo C636 to GE C36-7M rebuild unit 5513 awaits its fate. Rebuilt in 1988 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from a 1970 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6012-2 and road number 5453 and assigned new serial number 4839-02 / 88-078. It was delivered in Mount Newman Mining orange and was named Kalgan. Late 2001.

257-0613 viewsFlash Butt yard BHP's stored Goninan WA ALCo C636 to GE C36-7M rebuild unit 5510 awaits its fate. Rebuilt in 1987 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from a 1969 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6027-2 and road number 5458 and assigned new serial number 4839-07 / 87-075. It was delivered in Mount Newman Mining orange and was named Newman. Of note is the Dash 8 radiator frame, the unit was converted to a Dash 8 radiator following loadout damage. Late 2001.

Friday 12th of April 2002.

Budd in 1939 numbered 301 as the Silver Star, a diner-parlour-observation coach on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad's General Pershing Zephyr train from the 1930s and 1940s. Donated to Mt Newman Mining Co. by AMAX an original joint venture partner to commemorate the projects first 100 million tonnes of iron ore railed between Mount Whaleback mine and the Port Hedland port. 12th of April 2002.

110620 2337r13 viewsWalla, loaded BHP ore waggon 4209 is a Goninan WA build from an order of one hundred and twenty-six waggons in 1997 with a tapered floor and rounded wall bottoms using 3CR12 stainless steel in an effort to eliminate internal painting and reducing wear on the waggon body, these were designated HC7081. 20th of June 2011.

110620 2392r13 viewsWalla, comparison between loaded BHP ore waggons from Comeng WA in 2925 and from Astra Vagoane, Arad Romania in 3312. 2925 is from a batch of four hundred built in 1971 by Comeng WA, while 3312 is from a batch of three hundred and fifty built in 1988 by Astra Vagoane, of which only two hundred and eighty-four didn't enter service. The Comeng build features square side and floor joins, while the Astra Vagoane build is all rounded. 20th of June 2011.
