150523 8199115 viewsNelson Point Yard, with only another month to operate, BHP Billiton CM40-8M locomotive 5666 'Taranto' is a trailing unit as the loaded rake waits to head to the car dumpers for unloading. 5666 started life as a Comeng NSW built M636 ALCo 5487 before Goninan rebuilt it in 1995 to a CM40-8MEFI as it was the first unit to trial an electronic fuel injection system. Come the 1st of July 2015 all these units were all stored.

It has been repainted into Robe colours and was donated to the local Lions' Club when retired and displayed as an entry statement to the township. View on the rail plinth and plaque at the entry into town. 31st August 2002.

Lead unit 4327 'Hamersley' is from an order originally being built by Electro-Motive, London Ontario for BNSF, an US class 1 railroad, but BHP secured 10 of them during construction, this unit 4327 serial no. 20066862-056 was destined to be BNSF 9185 before coming to BHP.
